Automatic switch to Driving changes (using location services):

We have added a new feature in version 109 (requested mainly by carriers) to automatically switch drivers to Driving mode using the device’s location service (GPS, cellular network, etc.). This new feature will prevent drivers from using the ELD device(tablet, phone) for personal purposes. There was an issue that Drivers were not logging out of the HoS app and were automatically switched to Driving mode during periods of time they were not working for the carrier.

With version 111, a new toggle function was added to the main screen to let the driver select if they want to use location services or not. By default this option is toggled off driver can enable it during regular working hours so Driving time is added properly without having to create new Driving records later on. Oncethe driver is done for the cycle and wants to bring the device (phone/tablet)with him during OFF duty time, they can switch location services off to avoid automatic switch to Driving.

Automatic switching to Driving mode now works as:

Single driver logged in the app: If ECM is available, once the vehicle starts moving the driver is automatically switched to Driving mode after the vehicle moves 1 mile. The driver is not notified and is switched toDriving mode after the 1 mile. If ECM data is not available, the app will use the new location service toggle. If location service is enabled the driver is switched to Driving after the vehicle moves 1 mile. If location service is turned off, (and ECM data is not available) the driver will not be switched to Driving mode.

Team drivers: Automatic switch to Driving mode only takes place if ECM data is available. Location service, just by itself, is not used. Once the app detects vehicle movement, a pop-up is shown to let drivers pick who is driving. The selected driver is switched to Driving mode after the vehicle moves 1 mile.

Unidentified driving: Only uses ECM data and location services is not used at all.

In some cases the Save button may be hidden by the keyboard. Hide the keyboard by clicking on the back/down button (see screenshot below), . Then the save button will show up.

The logout process can take a bit of time to complete due to a few bits of data that needs to be uploaded to the server, including the “logout” packet. That “logout” packet is what will also allow the driver to login back in with a different device.  At times, we have seen other accounts where the drivers will turn the tablet off immediately after they have logged out from the app. It is best if after they log out from the MiElogs app, that the tablet is left on and connected to the internet as a way to make sure all the data gets uploaded.

From the MiFleet platform, click on the Apps icon in the upper right corner
